Microelectronic Technologies and Microsystems

The Microelectronic Technologies and Microsystems Lab, based at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa, is active in the field of chemical and physical sensors, microelectronics technologies and analog IC design for sensor interfacing. Our design and fabrication know-hows are tightly integrated, and used to develop sensors and systems with applications spanning from aerospace to biomedical, to environmental control, and telecommunications.

Our lab is among the few in Italy to a link solid competence in sensor design with significant silicon microfabrication facilities and instrumentation for device characterization.

Our activities are in close contact with major national and international research centers and companies. A long collaboration with STMicrolectronics, a world-leading semiconductor supplier, is strengthened by the presence in Pisa of a joint Research and Development Center in the microsystems field.
